GeneralStripping back and simplifying the TE-style formula before throwing in some contemporary perks, the Fret-King Country Squire Modern Classic is home to a single bridge pickup – because that’s all you’ll ever need. The classic shape and ashtray-style bridge are there, as well as the solid alder body and maple neck, but things get more progressive in the improved fret-reach and enhanced balance of a deepened cutaway, and the elevated playing comfort of a 10 inch fretboard radius and twenty-two medium frets.

The Fret-King Country Squire Modern Classic also comes backed up by the solid intonation and lengthened sustain of a high-grade hardware pack, including a Wilkinson WTB bridge, Wilkinson WJ05 machine heads and a Graph Tech nut, while the unique electronics and wiring carve out a far wider sonic landscape than the setup would have you believe. The custom designed Tapped-Fifty at the bridge is an overwound and tappable single-coil that, combined with the Varitone selector switch, effortlessly spits fifties-style spank but can be dialled up to raw and powerful, mid-frequency-rich blues with minimum effort.
